CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State Sundancer Danielle Morgan was recently named one of 47 finalists for the eighth annual Sears Directors' Cup Postgraduate Scholarships awards presented by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and Sears, Roebuck and Co.

Danielle, a native of Chafee, Mo., is a senior co-captain and four-year member of the Sundancer squad. She is a human environment studies major and currently carries a 3.90 G.P.A.

"Danielle is a very talented and intelligent young lady who is deserving of being a finalist for the scholarship," said Suzanne Vaughn, Sundancers sponsor. "She is in competition with some other outstanding candidates and is the only female finalist from a Missouri university and is the only finalist from the Ohio Valley Conference. This speaks well for Danielle and Southeast."

Of the 17 finalists from Division I schools, a committee will review the finalists and select four winners who will each receive a $5,000 grant to be used towards graduate studies.

The winners from each division will receive their awards at the NACDA's 36th annual convention, held June 10-13 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The presentation will be made at a banquet held on June 12.

All members of athletics support staff are eligible for these prestigious scholarships, including academic support, trainers, band members, equipment managers, facility managers, sports information assistants and student coaches. The students must carry a minimum G.P.A. of 3.0 on a scale of 4.0, have senior status, have demonstrated leadership qualities at school or community level and have played an active role in one of the support categories.
