Cape Girardeau, Mo. -
The annual fund drive for the Southeast Missouri State University Booster Club will begin with a blitz day on Thursday.
The booster club drive is under the direction of Harry Rediger, club vice-president. There are eight teams of volunteer fund raisers who will all be out on Thursday in an effort to renew and upgrade current boosters while seeking new boosters.
"Last year we signed up about 60% of our 900 boosters during the blitz day," Rediger said. "We hope to do better this year. Our goal is to raise over $600,000 and to sell more football and basketball tickets."
The captains of the eight teams who have eight or nine members on each team include Neal Edwards, Bill Engleman, Janet Esicar, Norm Robert, Bill Lewis, Jim Salzman, Al Spradling and Jackie Griffith.
"We simply wouldn't be able to get the job done without the help of our volunteers," said Greg Brune, director of athletic development. "We really need to attract new booster club members and we need to increase our ticket sales. We expect to have great seasons in football and basketball and joining the booster club is a great way to qualify for premium tickets and all of the pre-game festivities."
