Aug. 2, 2006 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Alfred Castillo, assistant trainer and associate head football trainer at the University of Missouri for the past five years, has been hired as head athletic trainer at Southeast Missouri State University. "Alfred Castillo is a very qualified trainer with a wealth of great experience," said Don Kaverman, Director of Athletics at Southeast. "We hated to lose Rob Hunt, but Castillo will be able to step in and keep our sports medicine area operating at a high level." Castillo replaces Hunt, who resigned to take a job as head football trainer at Oklahoma State University. Castillo also has two years experience as an assistant trainer at Texas A & M. He is a graduate of Texas-Pan American with a Master of Science degree from Texas A & M. He is a nationally Certified Athletic Trainer, a Missouri State Licensed Athletic Trainer, Certified Automated External Defibrillator Operator and a Red Cross Adult CPR/Professional Rescuer. At Southeast, Castillo, who assumed his duties on August 1 will be assisted by two full time assistant trainers, Scott Parker and Amanda Martin. They have four graduate assistant trainers. Several Cape Girardeau physicians serve as consultants to the Southeast trainers including Dr. Anthony Keele, Dr. Patrick Knight, Dr. Mike Milne, Dr. Ken De Coursey and Dr. Brian Stevens. |
