Aug. 8, 2006 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University men's basketball team, women's tennis team and men's and women's track teams will receive a donation for the majority of sales at the popular Barbecue sale on August 17-19 at the Country Mart, 309 East Jackson in Jackson. It will be the fifth annual Barbecue and will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17-19, in the parking lot in front of Country Mart. Coaches and athletes from the teams will join with the staff at Country Mart to prepare the barbecue that can be for take out or for dining at the site. "This has become a very popular event that people really look forward to," said Southeast track coach Joey Haines. "We have great tasting barbecue at great prices." Chief cook, Greg Brune, director of athletic development at Southeast, says the event is a tremendous opportunity for the four teams to raise some much needed funds and for coaches to interact with all the people who attend the event. Some of the items available for sale include a side of ribs for $11.99, whole BBQ chicken for $4.99, pork steak for $2.50, Johnsonville Brat for $1.25, a BBQ sandwich for $1.25 and turkey drumsticks for $2.50. This year, pre-orders for ribs, whole chickens and extra-thick cut pork steak, can be made for pick up on Wednesday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. To pre-order call Country Mart at 243-8171 or the Southeast basketball office at 651-5030. On-site sales begin on Thursday at 10 a.m. with serving hours from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. |
