Eight student-athletes at Southeast Missouri State University have claimed eleven OVC Academic Medals of Honor and 92 Southeast student-athletes have been named to the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The Medal of Honor is given annually to the student-athlete who achieves the highest grade point average in a Conference sponsored sport. Southeast Medal of Honor winners included Jennifer Burke, Kim Krieger and Kaci Pilcher in both cross country and track, Matt Boyack in football, Jennifer Cross in soccer, Jamie Birk in softball, Kay Ehlke in tennis, and Michelle Jett in track. All of the Southeast winners had a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the 2003-2004 school year.
To be listed on the OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, recipients must have achieved at least a 3.25 grade point average. Southeast honorees included John Boggio, Brett Hale and Derek Winans in men's basketball; Jessica Aebi, Sami Jo Cotton, Shannon Proffit and Carina Souza in women's basketball; Brad DeMattei, Mark McNamara, Kirk Nesbit, Chad Sierman and Brian Whitehead in men's cross country and track; Coleen Burke, Jennifer Burke, Kim Krieger, Melissa Moody, Taryn Phillips and Kaci Pilcher in women's cross country and track; Fred Amano, John Ball, Dan Bieg, Matt Boyack, Adam Casper, Eric Frost, Cal Jillson, Justin DeShon, Zach Fidler, Seth McDowell, Chuck McElroy, Justin Meyer, Mike Miller, Matthew NesSmith and Joseph Tuineau in football; Brandon Couch, Matthew Lizelfelner, Kent Phillips, Mark Schmitz and Nathan Sprague in golf; Molli Beard, Jennifer Cross, Erin Hartmann, Laura Hauskins, Caitlin Huber, Diana Mayer, Diana Poovey, Heather Reding, Jessica Wuellner and Julie Wunderlich in soccer; Jamie Birk, Kelly Birk, Marie Coode, Florence Davidson, StaceyDeClue, Jessica Hunter, Stephanie Mata, Amy Thompson, Victoria Torrez, Rachel VanFleet and Melissa VanVelkinburgh in softball; Kay Ehlke in tennis; Quincy Ezealah, Collin Sheridan and Jared Tanz in men's track; Rose Fulton, Michelle Jett, Lindsey Meyr and Lyndsey Stevenson in women's track; Kristen Clark, Sarah Frost, Suzanne Gundlach, Jill Miller, Emily Scannell and Shley Smith in volleyball and Kelly Baldridge, Katie Bloom, Tara Boldt, Jackie Doebbler, Amanda Grimes, Lexie Hein, Brystol Powelsk,I and Natalie Watts in women's gymnastics.
