CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State Sport Management program will host its annual 5K Fund Run on Saturday, October 27, 2007. Start time is scheduled for 10 a.m. at Cape Girardeau County Park South, with race day registration from 8:45-9:45 a.m. Race fees are $15 for adults, $10 for Southeast students, $5 for kids 14 and under. Pre-registration is available online for $12 and $10 through the mail. Please make checks payable to Southeast Missouri State University Foundation.

Participants are welcome to run or walk and will be divided into five age divisions: kids ages 14 and under, adults ages 15-25, 26-39, 40-55 and 56 and older. Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group.
All proceeds from the run will go towards a scholarship fund for Sport Management majors at Southeast. The race is being put on by Dr. Beth Easter's Sporting Event Management class. The accredited Sport Management Program at Southeast is one of only 49 undergraduate programs in the country that has received program approval from the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM) and National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE).
Current Southeast athletes in the class include Rachel Blunt from the women's basketball team, Amber Peterson from the softball team and Blair Schuppan of the soccer team. Former athletes also enrolled in the class include football players John Albart and Jesse Robinson, former baseball players Brandon Gendron and Philip Riley, and former and track and field athlete Ryan Doty. All other students in the class are majoring or minoring in Sport Management.
