Cape Girardeau, Mo. – Southeast Missouri State University’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is participating in the Ohio Valley Conference canned food drive with the theme, “The 12 Days of Giving.” The canned food drive is being held through November 10.
SAAC will be collecting canned food and nonperishable items at Redhawks home athletic events held this weekend. Fans who bring three canned food items will receive free admission to the women's volleyball game at Houck Field House Friday night at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to continue donating canned food items on Saturday, as the volleyball team plays at 2 p.m, and the men's and women's basketball teams host exhibition game sin the evening. The women’s game tips off at the Show Me Center at 5:30 p.m., and the men will start at 7:45 p.m.
Donations can also be taken to the Redhawks Success Center, located on the second floor of the Student Recreation Center - South by November 10. All items collected by SAAC will be donated to local Cape Girardeau charitable organizations.
This is the third year that the OVC has sponsored a conference-wide canned food drive. Last year, more than 30,000 canned food items were collected across the league.
