Cindy Gannon begins her sixth year as Associate Director of Athletics and the departments Senior Woman Administrator
In October 9, 2008 Gannon was named interim director of athletics and served as the interim AD until a new director of athletics was chosen after a national search.
Prior to being named interim director of athetics, Gannon was in her fifth year as the Associate Director of Athletics and Senior Woman Administrator. Her duties including event management, sports supervision, personnel recruitment, monitoring the athletic department's compliance with gender equity and serving as an institutional representative to the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC).
Prior to stepping into athletic administration, Gannon served as the head volleyball coach at Southeast from 1989-2004. She had a record of 366-211 including four NCAA tournament appearances as head coach. She was named OVC Coach of the Year four times.
Gannon joined the coaching staff at Southeast after completing her undergraduate degree in Physical Education in 1985 and then quickly accepted a graduate assistant position with the program. Three short years later in 1989, Gannon would take over the helm as the head coach.
Recognized not only by her peers for her exceptional coaching skills with four OVC Coach of the Year Honors, she was named a Southeast Missouri State Young Alumni Merit Award winner by the College of Education in 1998. Gannon also was recognized by her junior college alma mater when Mineral Area College selected her as an Outstanding Alumni.
Originally from De Soto, Mo., Gannon is a former member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association and the NACWAA. In 2000, she chaired Southeast's Midwest Region and was a member of the AVCA's Division I Top 25 selection committee, as well as serving on the All-American Committee.
Gannon, who resides in Cape Girardeau, enjoys bicycling and the occasional round of golf.
