Southeast track and field's attempt at an upset in last weekends Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championship fell short, as the men and women finished second and third, respectively.

Pre-meet favorite Tennessee State won the women's division with 159 points, followed by Eastern Illinois (113) and Southeast (103).

Junior Hannah Stuckenschneider was the only Otahkian individual winner with a first-place showing in the 400m dash. Meleisa Greene (long jump), Sara Kaznica (pole vault), Kaci Pilcher (mile) and the women's 4x400m dash all finished second in their respective events.

Eastern Illinois dominated the men's side of the competition by amassing 216 points, well ahead of Southeast (111) and Eastern Kentucky (99).

Senior Jaret Willi once again proved he is the premier pole vaulter in the OVC. His mark of 16'9 ½" secured his second OVC indoor individual title and broke the meet record, which was set by Willi at last year's OVC's.

Other individual champions for Southeast include Shelton Scott (triple jump) and Jay Heddell (shot put).

A small contingent of about eight men and women athletes will travel to Notre Dame University this weekend to compete in the Alex Wilson Invitational.
