Redhawks Complete OVC Indoor Championships

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's track teams completed the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships at Tennessee State University. The men's team finished third with 117 points and the women's team tied for fifth with 68.5 points. Eastern Kentucky men and Tennessee State women won the championships. The EKU men had 147 points while Eastern Illinois took second with 129 points. Tennessee State finished fourth with 67 points, followed by Samford (16) and Morehead State (10). Tennessee State's women recorded 128 points while Eastern Illinois finished second with 86.5. Jacksonville State placed third with 78 points, followed by Murray State (74.5), Samford (68.5), Eastern Kentucky (48), Austin Peay (42.5) and Tennessee Tech (28.5). Brandon Colbert picked up his second title when he won the weight throw with a mark of 58-03.25, followed by Andy Croxford who finished second with a career and season best mark of 53-10.50. Chris Gill won the 400-meters in a time of 48.89 and finished second in the 200-meters in a time of 21.80. Teammate Chris Poindexter finished second in the 400-meters with a time of 49.16 and third in the 200-meters with a time of 22.34. Bilal Hameed leaped to a first place finish with a mark of 48-10.25. The women's team picked up their only individual title from Whitney Thomas in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.11. Third place finishes went to Audrey Harwood in the pole vault in 11-00.00 and Funtasia Clark in the triple jump in 5-4.25. |
