SOUTH BEND, Ind. (Saturday, March 6, 2010) – The Southeast Missouri State track and field teams recorded three runner-up finishes at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday morning. Throwers Brandon Colbert, Josh Uchtman and Ashley Brewer all placed second in their respected events at the Loftus Sports Center on the campus of Notre Dame University.

Colbert placed second in the weight throw with a toss of 62’-6.50”. It was his eighth top-five finish in the event this season. He later placed sixth in the shot put with a heave of 56’-2.00”, his second best throw of the season.

Uchtman was the runner-up in the shot with a throw of 57’-9.00”. It was his seventh top-five finish in the shot put this season.

In the women’s shot put, Brewer placed second with a heave of 49’-3.00”. It was her second best shot put throw of the season. The throw also gave her five top-five finishes in the shot.

Freshman Jerika Lewis represented the team on the track. The Ohio Valley Conference 400 meter champion placed eighth in the event with a time of 56.41.

Uchtman and Colbert rank in the top-20 nationally in the shot put and weight throw respectively. Both have surpassed the NCAA provisional mark in their events and will wait to see if they will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The NCAA Championships will be held next weekend at Randal Tyson Track Center on the campus of the University of Arkansas.
