Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season

Memphis, TN - The men and women opened the outdoor season Saturday at the Rhodes Open in Memphis. Rhodes College hosted the meet at their new facility.

For the women, several athletes won their event while many placed in the top three. Finishing first were Donniece Parrish in the 200m dash, Brooke Woodruff in the 1500m run, Lindsey Meyr in the long jump, and the 4X100m relay and 4X400m relay.

Placing second were Jennifer Burke in the 800m run and the 1500m run, and Michele Jett in the pole vault.

Third place went to Nyisha Porter in the 200m dash, Jenn Caywood in the 5000m run, and Kyra Joiner in the 400m hurdles.

The men had numerous first place finishes including Miles Smith in the 400m dash, Chaz Brown in the 800m run, David Herman in the 110m hurdles, Alonzo Nelson in the 400m hurdles, Jason Theodorakos in the javelin, and the 4X400m relay team.

Second place went to Walter Washington in the 400m dash, Ryan Doty in the high jump, Mathew Jett in the pole vault, John Berry in the long jump, Brian Knippen in the shot put, and Daniel Jones in the hammer throw. Tim Jefferson placed third in the 100m dash.
 

 

The Redhawk track and field team will take off this weekend and return April 1 for their first and only home outdoor meet.
