Southeast Missouri Wins All-Sport Classic Both the men and women finish well ahead of the pack.

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State claimed the overall championship of the 21st All Sports Classic by winning both the men's and women's divisions. The Southeast men tallied 196 points to outdistance Western Illinois (155), Murray State (111), Arkansas State (85), Tennessee State (63) and Southern Illinois-Carbondale (50). Glenn Haley was a double winner for Southeast. He won his fourth All Sport 110-meter hurdle title in a time of 14.44 and came back to win the 400-meter intermediate hurdles in a time of 54.07. Other winners for the Southeast Missouri men included Jay Heddell in the shot put, Jason Campbell in the 400, Adam Shupe in the 800, Chad Sierman in the steeplechase, Shelton Scott in the triple jump, Jaret Willi in the pole vault and James Brainer in the javelin. The Southeast women scored 194 points to win over Western Illinois (150), Arkansas State (138), Southern Illinois-Carbondale (130), Murray State (77) and Tennessee-Martin 25. Laura VanHoevelaak led the Southeast women with a win in the 400-meter hurdles and a leg on the winning 4 X 400-meter relay team. Joining VanHoevelaak on the relay were LaQuita Andrews, Lyndsey Stevenson and Hannah Stuckenschneider. Other Southeast winners included Sara Kaznica in the pole vault, Courtney Haman in the javelin, Meleisa Greene in the long jump and Kaci Pilcher in the 800. Southeast track and field will again be in action April 13 for the Mississippi State Invitational. |
