Southeast Women Win Mississippi State Track Invite

Starkville, MS - Heather Jenkins, Courtney Haman and Rose Fulton all won two events to lead Southeast Missouri State to the team title at the Mississippi State Invitational on Saturday.

The Southeast women tallied 212 points to win over favored Mississippi State with 175.5 while Alabama-Birmingham scored 114.5 and Alabama-Huntsville 59.

Jenkins won the shot put and discus and placed third in the hammer throw. She threw the shot 45-2 ¼ and the discus, 156-7. Haman won the high jump with a jump of 5-5 and won the javelin with a throw of 138-3. Fulton won both the 100 and 200-meters and ran on the winning 4 X 100 relay team.

Other Southeast winner included Hannah Stuckenschneider in the 400, Brooke Woodruff in the 800, Laura VanHoevelaak in the 400 hurdles, Michele Jett in the pole vault and Meleisa Greene in the long jump.

The Southeast men's team was second behind Mississippi State with Memphis third. The Bulldogs scored 143, Southeast 91 and Mephis 71.

Brandon Myer was a double-winner for Southeast winning both the shot put and discus. Other winners for the Southeast men included Shelton Scott in the triple jump, Jared Tanz in the 800 and Brian Whitehead in the steeplechase.
