Track & Field Finishes Strong at NCAA West Preliminary

By Jeff Honza EUGENE, Ore. - Southeast Missouri finished strong in the NCAA West Preliminary which wrapped up at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field Saturday. Brandon Colbert gave Southeast its best finish at the three-day event when he placed 13th in the hammer throw. Colbert just missed advancing to the NCAA Championships, as the Top-12 competitors moved on. He posted a throw of 202-5/61.71m. Shemeika Brewer also took 43rd in the women's triple jump with a mark of 38-3.25/11.66m. Southeast's 4x100-meter relay team of Rachel Kahle, Angelica Larrier, Magan Edwards and Jerika Lewis finished 17th with a time of 45.90. Eleven Redhawks competed in this year's NCAA West Preliminary, the most participating in an NCAA meet since 2004. |
