Southeast Track and Field Completes Kickoff Classic

Jonesboro, Ark. - The Redhawks concluded their first indoor meet of the season at the ASU Convocation Center. Southeast men's and women's teams had several top-five finishes in both the field and running events. Over 600 athletes from 12 schools participated in the non-scoring meet. Junior Orie Ibe finished second in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.30. Teammate Whitney Thomas placed fourth with a time of 8.36. In the field, freshman Brianna Egbuka finished third in the shot put with a throw of 44-02, and sophomore Ashley Brewer placed fifth with a throw of 41-10. Sophomore pole vaulter Audrey Harwood placed fifth (11-0) in her respective event, and freshman Cara Harbstreet finished fifth in the high jump (5-05). The women's 4x400-meter relay finished second overall with a time of 3:56.69. On the men's side, freshman Ryan Criglar placed fifth in the 200-meters with a time of 22.34. Senior Miles Smith won the 400-meters in 47.29. Junior Chris Gill finished second with a time of 48.51. Smith and Gill teamed up with junior Chris Poindexter and freshman Robert Delaria to win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:13.29. Sophomore Brandon Colbert finished first in the weight throw (59-10.25) and second in the shot put (56-05.75). In other result's, Andy Croxford was seventh in the weight throw (50-06.75), Kelley Good finished sixth in the 800-meters (2:23.29) and Ben Johnson placed seventh in the 55-meters (6.74). The Redhawks will return with more track and field action after Christmas Break. |
