Southeast Track Teams Fare Well At Saluki Booster Invitational
Jan. 21, 2007 Carbondale, Ill. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's indoor track teams got the 2007 portion of their schedules off to a good start at the Saluki Booster Invitational at Southern Illinois-Carbondale. The Redhawks had five individuals with top three performances against a strong field in the early season meet. John Berry and T.J. Wells each had wins for the Redhawks men. Berry won the long jump on Friday night with a jumnp of 24-feet 7 3/4-inches. Walls, a freshman, won the 60-meter dash on Saturday in a time of 6.90. Whitney Thomas and Juli Koenigstein both had second place finishes with freshman Audrey Harwood gaining a third place finish. Thomas was second in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.94 while Koenigstein was second in the 3,000-meters with a time of 10:31.74. Harwood was third in the pole vault at 10-feet 6-inches. The Redhawks track teams will compete at Indiana next weekend with All-American sprinter Miles Smith, who did not run at Carbondale, expected to compete in the 200-meters and the 4 X 400 relay. |
