Track & Field Teams Head North For EIU Mega Meet

CHARLESTON, ILL. (Saturday, JANUARY 23, 2010) The Southeast Missouri State indoor track & field teams will compete in Charleston Illinois this weekend at the EIU Mega Meet at Lantz Field house.

The meet will begin with field events on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., alternating between the women and men. The running events will begin approximately at 10:30 a.m.

After an impressive showing at the SASF Invitational the past weekend, junior Josh Uchtman hopes for a repeat in his victory in the shot put. Last weekend Uchtman captured his first individual title of the season with a throw of 58’-4.75”. The toss surpassed the NCAA Provision Qualifying mark for the Indoor Championships. The throw also ranks third on the school’s all-time list. His efforts garnered him OVC Male Field Athlete of the Week Honors.

Senior Brandon Colbert threw 62-1.00” in the weight throw landing him a second place finish. Josh Uchtman placed seventh

OVC Male Runner of the Week, Paul Stemmerman placed second in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:47.25.

Sophomore Nate Shipley placed third (8:56.85) and Junior Chris Loseman (8:57.22) placed fourth in the 3000 meter run.

On the women’s side Ashley Brewer threw 44’-7.50” in the shot put placing her 5th overall. Brewer also placed 6th in the weight throw with a toss of 53’-4.25”.

Junior Cara Harbstreet came in a two-way tie for sixth in the high jump jumping 5’2.25”.

Senior Szandra Pal ran a time of 10:44.87 in the 3000 meter run placing her 8th overall.

While on the sprinting side Jerika Lewis placed 5th overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.56.

The following schools participating in the EIU Mega Meet are Chicago State, Lindenwood, McKendress, Missouri State, along with OVC rivals Murray State, and Eastern Illinois.
