CAPE GIRARDEAU (January, 24, 2002)- The Southeast Missouri State University men's and women's indoor track teams will compete in the McDonald's Invitational at Southern Illinois-Carbondale on Friday and Saturday.

The only events on Friday will be the men's and women's weight throw with all other events on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.

"This should be a competitive meet with several OVC teams in the field," said Southeast coach Joey Haines. "Our women's team won at SIU two weeks ago and should have a chance to win the team title again on Saturday. Our men's team has the talent to win a number of events but probably doesn't have the depth to beat SIU."

Teams scheduled to complete include Southeast, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, Samford, Austin Peay, Southern Indiana, Lincoln and Rend Lake.

Hannah Stuckenschneider won the 400-meters in the earlier meet at SIU and will be one of the favorites along with Ciccly Sullivan of Austin Peay. Lyndsey Stevenson and Laura VanHoevelaak will also run the 400 for Southeast. Anna Verseman will try to duplicate her winning effort in 1600-meters.

Amy Arteme will be one of the favorites in the 5,000 and Heather Jenkins and Megan Youse will be among the favorites in the shot put and weight throw.

The Southeast men will be led by Jaret Willi who won the pole vault in earlier meets at SIU and at Arkansas State. He has the best vault in the OVC this season at 16-feet.

Tyson Brown will be seeking his second straight win in the 800 and the distance medley relay team of Jared Tanz, Brown, Chad Sierman and Adam Shupe will be favored.
