Jan. 30, 2002 CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - After second place finishes at last weekend's McDonald's Invitational at Southern Illinois-Carbondale, the Southeast Missouri State University men's and women's track teams will compete in the Indiana Relays at Indiana University on Friday and Saturday. The Indiana Relays will be a non-scored competition featuring 17 women's teams and 11 men's teams. Women's teams will include Marquette, Western Carolina, Ball State, Alabama-Birmingham, Western Kentucky, Louisville, Eastern Illinois, Vanderbilt, Indiana State, Middle Tennessee, Murray State, Southern Illinois, Cincinnati, Tennessee, Central Florida, Indiana and Southeast Missouri. Men's teams entered at Indiana include Marquette, Western Carolina, Ball State, Western Kentucky, Eastern Illinois, Indiana State, Middle Tennessee, Murray State, Cincinnati, Indiana and Southeast Missouri. The meet will be the first time this season Southeast has gone against defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Eastern Illinois. Some of the top entries for the Southeast women will include Meleisa Greene in the 60-meters and long jump, Heather Jenkins in the shot put and weight throw, and the 4 X 400-meter relay team of Robbi Durham, Lyndsey Stevenson, Laura VanHoevelaak and Hannah Stuckenschneider. Greene was second in the long jump last week with a jump of 18-3 ¾ while Jenkins was second in the shot put at 43-8 ½ and second in the weight throw at 47-6 ½. The relay team placed first at the McDonald's Invitational in a time of 3:53.00. The Southeast men will be led by Jay Heddell who won the shot put last week, pole vaulter Jaret Willi and Shelton Scott who won the long jump and was second in the triple jump. Heddell has the best shot throw in the OVC this season at 55-5 while Scott has the best long jump at 23-0 ½ and triple jump with 48-6. Willi has the best pole vault in the OVC with a vault of 16-0. |
