JENKINS ESTABLISHES NEW WEIGHT THROW RECORD

CAPE GIRARDEAU - Sophomore thrower Heather Jenkins of Southeast Missouri State University established a new Southeast school record, a new Arkansas State Convocation Center record and a new meet record with a weight throw of 55-feet 9-inches at Arkansas State last Saturday. The throw is also the best in the Ohio Valley Conference this season. Jenkins, who placed 15th in the NCAA outdoor shot put last season, also has the best indoor shot put throw in the OVC this season at 47-feet 5 ¾-inches. The Southeast women's team has a number of best performances in the OVC this season. Lindsay Zeiler has the best time in the mile (4:58.86) and 3,000-meters (9:58.30) Meleisa Greene and Rose Fulton have the top two times in the 55-meters at 7.15 and 7.19 and Greene has the best long jump (18-9 ¼). Brooke Woodruff has the fastest 800-meter time at 2:14.81. Southeast pole vaulters have the three best vaults in the OVC this season with Michelle Jett, Megan Rosenkoetter and Becky Komerech all over 10-feet. The Southeast men's team also has several OVC leaders. Shelton Scott has the best long jump (23-10) and triple jump (49-4 ½) while Jay Heddell has the best shot put (57-5 ¾) and Brandon Meyr the best weight throw (51-4 ¾). Andrew Lambert has the OVC's best high jump at 6-6 and David Herman has the fastest time in the 55-meter hurdles at 7.69. The Southeast track teams do not have a meet this weekend.
