CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (Thursday, January 31, 2008) - Both of Southeast Missouri State University's men's and women's track and field teams will compete in the Indiana Relays this weekend hosted by Indiana University. The meet will take place at Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse and is set to begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday.

The reigning OVC Field Athlete of the Week, John Berry, is expected to lead the way for the Redhawks after an exceptional performance at last weekends Gene Edmonds Cup Invitational. His event winning jump of 23'08.00 clinched his event win, and placed him 15th in the nation. The men's 4x400 relay team captured the title with a time of 3:16.45. After sitting out last weekend due to the flu, a healthy Miles Smith is expected to run this weekend.

The women's team is also anticipated to place high scores after last week's performances. Juli Koenegstein improved her 3,000 meter season best by nearly seven seconds, placing her third overall in the invitational. The women's 4x400 relay looking impressive finishing third; clocking in at 3:54.73. With a healthy team expected to compete, the women should be able to come on strong in Indiana.

Over 15 schools are expected to compete in Bloomington, Indiana this weekend. Amongst the schools competing are Notre Dame, Cincinnati, Arkansas State, Indiana State, Missouri State, and Southern Illinois-Carbondale. Fellow OVC schools Eastern Illinois and Murray State will also be competing at the prestigious relay meet.
