Both the men's and women's team take first over Murray State and Samford.


LaQuita Andrews had a spectacular meet on Saturday, finishing first in both the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash.

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's indoor track & field teams both took home first-place finishes Saturday at the Student Recreation Center on the Southeast campus.

Southeast men's team finished with 71 points, well ahead of second place finisher Samford (39 points). Murray State finished just behind Samford with 36 points.

The Indians were led by first place finishers Jaret Willi (pole vault), Shelton Scott (long jump), Jay Heddell (shot put), Shawn Statler (55-meter dash), Jared Tanz (mile run), Jason Campbell (400-meter dash), Chaz Brown (600-meter dash) and Adam Shupe (800-meter). Also, the 4x400 relay team of Glenn Haley, Tyson Brown, Chaz Brown and Campbell finished first.

Southeast women's team tallied a total of 89 points, also well ahead of second place Samford (37 points). Murray State finished third in the meet with 32 points.

The Otahkians were led by first place finishers Sara Kaznica (pole vault), Courtney Haman (high jump), Meleisa Greene (long jump), Heather Jenkins (shot put), Lyndsey Stevenson (55-meter hurdles), LaQuita Andrews (55-meter dash & 200-meter dash), Hannah Stuckenschneider (400-meter dash), Jen Burke (600-meter) and Kaci Pilcher (3,000-meter run). Also, the 4x400 relay team of Laura Van Hoevelaak, Andrews, Stevenson and Stuckenshneider finished first.

Next weekend, the Indians and Otahkians will travel to Carbondale, Ill. and the SIU Invitational.
