OVC Recognizes Southeast Track Athletes

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Track athletes from Southeast Missouri State claimed three of four OVC Athlete of the Week awards. Heather Jenkins was named the Female Field Athlete of the Week, Jen Caywood was named the Female Track Athlete of the Week and Bilal Hameed was named the Male Track Athlete of the Week.

Jenkins placed fourth in the wieght throw (56-10.75) and sixth in the shot put (49-9.25) in the shot put at the Hoosier Relays. Her shot put toss ranks first on the OVC best list this season. She also owns the best weight throw of the season at 61-10.25.

Caywood recorded the fastest 5,000-meter time by an OVC runner in placing eighgth at the Hooser Relays. She timed 18:06.84.

Hameed was named the Male Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks. He placed fourth in the triple jump at the Hoosier Relays with a leap of 48-11.50.His ju;mp of 49-7.25 is the best in the OVC this season.

The Southeast track teams will compete in the Iowa State Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Ames, Iowa.
