A group of throwers, vaulters and a few female runners will compete in the McDonald's Open at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale on Saturday.

"We only have a few entries at Carbondale because we have trained hard for next week's Ohio Valley Conference championships at Eastern Illinois University," said Southeast coach Joey Haines. "The meet at SIU will be a good workout for our throwers and vaulters and a few runners."

Top entries for Southeast will include Jay Heddell the top ranked shot put thrower in the OVC with a throw of 56-3 and Heather Jenkins who has the second best shot throw for a woman in the OVC at 46-3/4.

Southeast will also enter Jaret Willi, the OVC's top pole vaulter at 16-3/4 and female pole vaulter Sara Kaznica who has the second best female vault at 10-6.

Lyndsey Stevenson, who has been slowed by injuries, will run the hurdles.
