Southeast Cross Country Team Honored For Academic Achievements

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State University men's cross country team has been honored as an All-Academic Team with Distinction by the United States Cross Country Coaches Association. The Redhawks runners had a 3.27 grade point average.

Southeast was one 19 schools nationwide to earn the award. Some of the other top schools included Yale, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.

The Southeast cross country team was led by Brian Whitehead who was earlier honored as an OVC Scholar-Athlete which is the highest award that can be earned by an OVC athlete. Whitehead has a 3.667 grade point average. Kirk Nesbit has the highest GPA at 3.733.

Southeast finished sixth in the OVC championships.
