Redhawks Track and Field Sweep Weekly OVC Honors

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's track and field teams claimed two weekly honors form the OVC. Long jumper John Berry was named as Male Field Athlete of the Week and Juli Koenegstein was named Female Track Athlete of the Week for their performances at the Mississippi State Invitational.

John Berry, a junior from St. Louis, Mo., jumped to a first place finish and a NCAA Regional Qualifying mark of 24'08" in the long jump. The jump puts Berry first on the OVC best list this year.

Teammate Juli Koenegstein, a sophomore from Cester, Ill., placed second in the steeplechase with a school-record time of 11:05.58. The time is ranked first on the OVC best list this year.

Berry and Koenegstein will be in action April 6-7 at the 26th Annual Gatorade Classic, hosted by Southeast Missouri State University.
