Track and Field Signs Highly-Rated Illinois Distance Runner Lindsay Zeiler of Massac County High School will compete for track team next season.
April 11, 2002 CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University track coach Joey Haines has announced that Lindsay Zeiler of Massac County High School in Metropolis, Ill., has signed a national letter of intent to attend Southeast in the fall of 2002. Zeiler was named Southern Illinois Cross Country Runner of the Year by the Southern Illinoisan newspaper. She was third at the Illinois state cross country meet. On the track, Zeiler is a past Illinois champion in the 1600 and 3200-meters. She has a personal best time of 11:05.7 in the 3200, 5:07.3 in the 1600 and 2:19.6 in the 800. Also a basketball player at Massac County High School, Zeiler will be one of the favorites in the 1600 and 3200 at the Illinois state meet later this spring. "We're really excited about signing Zeiler," said Haines. "She is a tremendous athlete who will be an outstanding college cross country runner and will be able to run distance races from 1500-meters to 5000-meters on the track." |
