Miles Smith Lowers His Nation's Top 400-meter Time

Knoxville, Tenn. - Miles Smith again has the nation's fasterst time in the 400-meters after timing 45.84 to win the Sea Ray Relays at the University of Tennessee. Smith timed 46.23 to win the SEmotion Relays last weekend, but two other runners turned in faster times to place him third in the nation. Saturday, Smith lowered his time and an early check of the other top national meets shows no one else had a faster time. The official rankings will be released on Monday. John Berry jumped 25-feet 1 1/4-inches to place fifth in the long jump at the Sea Ray Relays while Brandon Karcher was ninth in the 10,000-meters with a time of 31:48.50. Samantha Espiricueta threw the javelin 140-5 to place fifth in the womne's javelin while Lindsey Hearne was ninth at 130-10. Southeast will compete at the University of Arkansas on April 18-19. |
