Southeast Track Competes At Drake Relays

Cape Girardeau, MO (April 22, 2004) - Many Southeast Missouri State track and field athletes will compete this weekend in the prestigious Drake Relays in Des Moines, IA. The Drake Relays is in its tenth decade of competition.

The Drake Relays is a three day meet with competition beginning Thursday and continuing through Saturday afternoon. This weekend will be the meets 38th Saturday sell-out in the 18,000 seat stadium.

Individually Southeast has eight athletes invited to run and compete in open events. Jay Heddell will compete in the shot put along with Megan Youse and Heather Jenkins in the women's shot. Jenkins will also compete in the discus and hammer throw. Jordan Willi will compete in the pole vault. Heather West will be in the triple jump.

David Herman will run the 110-meter hurdles and Lyndsey Stevenson will be in the 100-meter hurdles.

Alonzo Nelson has been accepted to run in the 400-meter hurdles.

Southeast will also run in the women's 4x100-meter relay, 4x200-meter relay, sprint medley relay and the distance medley relay. The men will compete in the 4x100, 4x200 and the 4x400-meter relays.
