Track and Field Prepares for Weekend Split

April 24, 2008

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's track and field teams' weekend competition will be on two fronts. Several members will contend with some of the top athletes in the nation at the 99th Annual Drake Relays. The remainder of the team will compete at the SIUE Twilight Invitational.

More than 8,000 athletes representing 686 teams will be in attendance at Drake Stadium in Des Monies, Iowa. Teams will contest in two sections: college and university. Drake Stadium is also the home site of the 2008 NCAA Championships on June 11-14.

The Redhawks women will compete in three relays: 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400, while the men are expected to compete in 4x200 and the 4x400-meter relays. John Berry will compete in the long jump and Bilal Hameed will compete in the triple jump.

The remainder of the team will head to Edwardsville, Ill. in preparation for the OVC Championships on May 2-3.

Results will be found on www.Gosoutheast.com.
