Southeast Builds Up First Day Lead In OVC Track
May 6, 2005 Clarksville, Tenn. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's track teams both lead after the first day of the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. After the first six events, the Southeast men lead second place Eastern Illinois 87-68 while the women also lead the second place Panthers 58-33. The Southeast men won three of the six events with Brian Knippen winning the shot put, Jason Theodorakos winning the javelin and Andrew Lambert winning the high jump. Knippen was also second in the javelin while Lambert was second in the long jump.Kevin McNabb was second in the steeplechase. The Southeast women got a first place finish from Kathy Coleman in the long jump and second place finishes from Lindsey Meyr in the javelin, Nichole Portell in the shot put and Coleen Burke in the steeplechase. The OVC championships will conclude on Saturday.
