Redhawks Gear Up for Last Chance Meet

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State men's track team will have several athletes competing at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. The two-day meet will begin at noon Friday and will continue on Saturday at 11 a.m. The meet will feature over 1,000 athletes from over 70 colleges.

The men's 4x400 meter relay team of David Reid, Chris Pointdexter, Myron Pettigrew and Chris Williams won the Ohio Valley Conference title and has qualified for the NCAA Mideast Regional on May 25-26. They will be fine-tuning in this event.

Brandon Colbert will be competing in the shot put and discus. Colbert has regionally qualified in both events with seasonal best at 55-02" in the shot put and 172-07" in the discus.

Bill Nekula, who has a best throw of 52-00" in the shot put will need to throw a distance of 55-02" to qualify for the NCAA Mideast Regionals. Teammate Bilal Hameed will also be attempting to qualify for regional competition. Hameed has a best jump at 49-00.25" and will need to jump 49-02".
