Track Athletes to Compete at Georgia Tech Invite

Cape Girardeau, MO (May 13, 2004) Several Southeast athletes will travel to Atlanta, GA this weekend to compete in a last chance meet at Georgia Tech. This meet will give the Southeast athletes one last opportunity to qualify for NCAA Regional and will allow those who have qualified another weekend of competition.

The meet will be held at the George C. Griffin Track and is scheduled to begin Friday evening at 6 p.m. and run through Saturday afternoon.

Southeast athletes competing in the meet this weekend will be the men's 4x400-meter relay team of Alonzo Nelson, Chaz Brown, Jared Tanz and Miles Smith. Smith has already qualified in the 400 and 200-meters and will compete in those events also. The 4x100-meter relay team of Jon Jefferson, Tim Jefferson, Smith and Seth Schuster will also look to qualify for the Regional.
 

 

Jay Heddell has already qualified in the shot and disc and will compete this weekend while Jordan Willi will compete in the pole vault.

Heather Jenkins has met the qualifying mark in both the shot put and discus along with Brooke Woodruff in the 800-meters.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Natasha Fortenberry, Nyisha Porter, La Quita Andrews and Rose Fulton will run at Georgia Tech as they have qualified for the Regionals.

Michelle Jett has already earned a spot at the Regional in the pole vault and Lyndsey Stevenson will compete in the 100-meter hurdles.

Megan Youse will compete in the shot and discus.

Lindsay Zeiler has also qualified in the 1500-meters but will take the weekend off to prepare for the Regional.

Meleisa Greene was also a regional qualifier in the long jump but will not compete due to an injury.
