Redhawks Place at Georgia Tech Invitational Track Meet

Atlanta, Ga. - Brandon Colbert and the Redhawks 4 X 400-meter relay team had good tuneups for the NCAA Mideast Regional while Bill Nekula and Bilal Hameed failed to qualify for regional competition.

Colbert, who is qualified for the regional in both the shot put and discus, placed third in the discus and fifth in the shot put at the Georgia Tech Invitational. His throw in the discus was 171-3 while he threw the shot put 54-1.

Bill Nekula competed in the shot and discus, but fouled in each event. Bilal Hameed placed fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 48-9 1/2, but failed to meet the NCAA regional standard of 49-2.

The 4 X 400-meter relay team of Chris Williams, Chris Poindexter, David Reid and Myron Pettigrew was fifth at Georgia Tech in a time of 3:11.37.

The NCAA Mideast Regional will be held May 25-26 at the University of Missouri.

Colbert and the 4 X 400-meter relay team will be joined at the regional by Chris Herron in the steeplechase, Brandon Karcher in the 5,000-meters, Juli Koenegstein in the steeplechase, Lindsay Zeiler in the 1500-meters and John Berry in the long jump.
