CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - The Southeast Missouri State track and field team will have seven of their top athletes competing this weekend in hopes of improving their personal marks before the NCAA West Regional Track & Field Championships. Six of the Redhawks will travel to Atlanta, Georgia to compete in the Georgia Tech Invitational. Senior Chris Gill will compete in the 400 meters at the Cardinal Twilight Meet in Louisville, Kentucky.

Over 90 schools and 1,000 athletes will compete at the two-day Georgia Tech Invite.

The women's team will send throwers Samantha Espiricueta, Ashley Brewer and Brianna Egbuka. Jerika Lewis and Rachel Kahle will participate in the sprint events. Jumper Tyler Terry will be the lone member of the men's team that will compete in Atlanta.

Espiricueta will compete in the javelin where she ranks 17th nationally with a throw of 162'-2.00". That throw ranks 14th in the West Region.

Brewer will compete in the discus this weekend. She ranks 57th nationally and 29th in the West Region with a throw of 163'-3.00".

Egbuka will participate in the shot put. Her best throw this season is 45'-7.75" set two weeks ago at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships.

Kahle looks to improve her time in the 200 meters. She currently ranks 41st in the West Region with a time of 24.00. That time ranks second on the school's all-time charts.

Lewis will attempt to lower her time in the 400 meters. She has a time of 55.83 which ranks fourth in the OVC.

Terry has a season's best jump of 24'-1.50" which ranks 43rd in the West Region

Gill's time of 47.38 in the 400 meters at last weekend's Billy Hayes Invitational ranks 44th in the West Region.
