SOUTHEAST TRACK ATHLETES COMPETE AT GEORGIA TECH
May 16, 2003 Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State University NCAA Regional qualifiers and potential qualifiers will compete this weekend at the Georgia Tech Invitational in Atlanta, Ga. Southeast has already qualified 16 athletes in 18 events for the NCAA Mideast Regional at Ohio State on May 30-31. All of those athletes with the exception of 400-meter runner Hannah Stuckenschneider who will attend Southeast graduation ceremonies on Saturday, will be in action at Georgia Tech. Courtney Haman will compete in the javelin on Friday night and then return to the Southeast campus for graduation on Saturday, forcing her to miss the high jump competition. Southeast qualifiers who will be preparing for regional competition will include Haman in the javelin, Heather Jenkins the shot put and discus, Michelle Jett in the pole vault, Brooke Woodruff in the 800-meters, Lyndsey Stevenson in the 100-meter hurdles and Laura VanHoevelaak in the 400-meter hurdles. Qualifiers for the Southeast men who will participate in Atlanta include Jay Heddell and Brandon Myer in the shot put and discus, Shelton Scott in the triple jump, Jordan Willi in the pole vault, Andrew Lambert in the high jump and Chad Sierman in the steeplechase. Attempting to meet qualification standards will be Meleisa Greene in the long jump, Jared Tanz in the 800-meters, LaQuita Andrews in the 400-meters and Daniel Jones in the discus. Southeast will not run the qualified women's relay teams because of Stuckenschneider's absence and an injury to Rose Fulton. |
