Redhawks Complete First Day of NCAA Mideast Track Regional

Columbia, Mo. - Southeast Missouri State had no athlete advance to the NCAA finals during the first day of the NCAA Mideast Regional that included over 900 athletes from 88 universities.

Freshman Brandon Colbert finished 17th in the discus finals with a throw of 163-10. He will throw the shot put on Saturday.

Sophomore Brandon Karcher finished 24th in the 5,000-meters with a time of 15:05.61.

Senior Lindsay Zeiler failed to qualify for Saturday's finals in the 1500-meters. Zeiler, who won 11 Ohio Valley Conference championships during her standout career at Southeast, timed 4:33.06 top place 21st with only the top 12 qualifying for the finals.

Saturday, sophomore Juli Koenegstein will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase , Colbert will throw the shot put and the men's 4 X 400-meter relay team of David Reid, Myron Pettigrew, Antonio Pettigrew and Chris Williams will run in the first section against Akron, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Southern Mississippi, Kent State and Louisiana Tech. There will be three sections all against time.
