Cape Girardeau, Mo. - For the second consecutive year, Southeast Missouri State University track star Laura VanHoevelaak has been named to the Verizon Academic All-District VII Women's Track & Field.Team.

VanHoevelaak's selection makes her eligible for the Verizon Academic All-America team. Last season, VanHoevelaak was a second team Verizon Academic All-American.

An NCAA Regional qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles and on the 1600-meter relay team, VanHoevelaak graduated Suma Cum Laude in May of 2002 with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average.

Currently a graduate student in health management, VanHoevelaak has maintained a 4.0 GPA while excelling on the track. She will compete this weekend at the NCAA Mid-East Regional at Ohio State University.

Jen Burke, who graduated in three years with a perfect 4.0 GPA, was named second-team Verizon Academic All-District VII. She was a member of the Southeast track and cross country teams and will complete her eligibility next season while attending graduate school.
