Scott Will Compete in Long and Triple Jumps at NCAA Finals

June 3, 2003

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - - Shelton Scott will compete in both the long and triple jumps at the NCAA Track & Field finals, June 11-14, in Sacramento, Calif.

Scott was selected as an at-large entry based on his best seasonal performances of 25-6 ½ in the long jump and 52-2 in the triple jump.

"To make the NCAA finals in two events is quite an accomplishment," said Southeast track coach Joey Haines. "Shelton has worked very hard during his four years at Southeast and it is all paying off with a trip to the national championships. He is very capable of getting off big jumps in each event and has the potential to score in both events."

Scott will compete in the long jump preliminaries on Wednesday, June 11, with the triple jump prelims on Thursday. The long jump finals will be on Friday with the triple jump finals on Saturday.

The NCAA finals will be held at Hornet Stadium on the campus of California State-Sacramento.
