Miles Smith Advances To NCAA 400-meter Finals

Sacramento, Calif. - Miles Smith (St. Louis, Mo.,/Riverview Gardens High School), sophomore sprinter from Southeast Missouri State University, has advanced to the finals of the 400-meters at the NCAA Division I national championships in Sacramento, Calif.

Smith, the Ohio Valley Conference indoor and outdoor 400-meter champion, was fourth in his semi-final heat but his time of 45.17 was the sixth fastest and advanced him to Saturday's final. Smith's time matched his seasonal best which also stands as the Southeast school record.

Olympian Darrold Williams of Baylor won Smith's heat in a time of 44.27 which was the fastest time in the semi-finals.

Saturday's final will be at Hornet Stadium in Sacramento and will be televised on a tape delay basis by CBS. The finals will be seen on June 18 at 1:30 p.m.
