Scott Fails To Advance At NCAA Track Champioships

June 13, 2003

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Senior Shelton Scott of Southeast Missouri State University failed to advance the final round of either the long jump or triple jump at the NCAA championships in Sacramento, Calif.

Scott fouled on two of three jumps in the long jump and finished 27th in the competition with a jump of 17-11 ½. In the triple jump, Scott finished 22nd nationally with a jump of 50-5 ½.

"Shelton didn't accomplish what he came to California for, but being the only OVC athlete to qualify for the national championships and to place in the top 27 of two events is still quite and accomplishment," said Southeast coach Joey Haines. "Hopefully next year we will have several athletes qualify for the national finals."
