VanHoevelaak Named Second Team Academic All-American

Cape Girardeau, Mo. (June 19, 2003) - For the second consecutive year, Southeast Missouri State University track star Laura VanHoevelaak has been named to the Verizon Academic All-American Women's Track & Field.Team.

Van Hoevelaak was named to the second team and was one of 45 athletes named to the top three teams. She graduated Suma Cum Laude in May of 2002 with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average while majoring in sports medicine. Since then she has been pursuing a graduate degree.

An NCAA Regional qualifier in the 400-meter hurdles and on the 1600-meter relay team, VanHoevelaak is studying health management and has maintained a 4.0 GPA while excelling on the track.
