Candace Perry Joins Redhawks Track and Field Coaching Staff

Aug. 10, 2007

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Candace Perry enters her first year as Graduate Assistant Coach at Southeast Missouri State University. She will assist with the sprinters and jumpers.

Perry comes to Southeast after competing in track and field for two years at the University of Southern Indiana and two years at Indiana University.

While attending USI, Perry was a four-time NCAA All-American and Great Lakes Valley Conference Champion in the long jump. In 2005, she was the NCAA Division II Outdoor Champion in the long jump. Perry currently holds USI school records in the long jump, triple jump, sprints and relays.

In her first indoor season at Indiana University, Perry placed third in the long jump at the 2006 Big Ten Conference Championships. She was also an NCAA Indoor Regional qualifier that same year. During the 2006 and 2007 outdoor seasons, she placed top five in the long jump at the Big Ten Conference Championships.

"We are very excited to have someone of her caliber," said Coach Joey Haines. "Candace has competed with some of the best athletes. Her expertise will help in all phases of our program."

Perry received her bachelor's degree in general studies with a concentration in social and behavioral sciences from Indiana University. She will pursue her Master's in Athletic Administration at Southeast.
