Lindsay Hearne Selcted for All-Academic Track & Field Team

Aug. 12, 2008

Cape Girardeau, Mo. - Recently graduated Southeast Missouri State javelin thrower Lindsay Hearne has been named to the 2008 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team selected by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The USTFCCCA honors Division I individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either the NCAA Division I Indoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard or the NCAA Division I Outdoor regional or national qualifying standard in their respective event.

Hearne was an NCAA Regional qualifier and had a 3.803 cumulative grade point average. She had a best throw of 148-feet and finished third in the Ohio Valley Conference championships.

"We are certainly proud of Lindsay's accomplishments both on the field and in the classroom," said Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker. "She will be hard to replace next season."

As a team, the Southeast women's track team was honored as a Scholar Team by the USTFCCA. Nationally, the Redhawks had the 17th best team GPA of 3.379.
