CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (Thursday, December 3, 2009) – The 2009-2010 Southeast Redhawk’s indoor track and field teams hit the starting blocks as they compete in the first meet of the indoor season at the Saluki Fast Start meet in the SIU Recreational Center in Carbondale, Illinois.

The meet will feature 23 teams and begins with field events at 11:30. The track events will begin at 4 p.m. starting with preliminaries for men’s and women’s 60-meter dash.

The Redhawks will scale back on those participating in this Friday’s meet taking only this year’s sprinters and throwers.

This year’s indoor team returns the last year’s OVC’s Male Field Athlete of the Year in Josh Uchtman, the OVC’s Male Freshman of the Year in Nate Shipley and the OVC’s Freshman Female of Year in Shemieka Brewer. Last season the men’s and women’s team finished second at the OVC Indoor Championships.
