Redhawks Track and Field Will Contest in Saluki Fast Start

Dec. 6, 2007

Cape Girardeau, Mo. -

Southeast Missouri State track and field teams will get a heap of field action when they take part in the Saluki Fast Start on Friday. The event will be held at the SIU Student Recreation Center in Carbondale, Ill.

Sophomore Brandon Colbert will be favored in the weight throw. Last weekend Colbert's distance of 59'10 ¾" in the weight throw set a new school record. He will be looking to improve his performance.

Teammates Josh Uchtman and Andy Glass will join Colbert in the weight throw and shot put competitions.

Freshman Brianna Egbuka and sophomore Ashley Brewer should have solid performances in the weight throw and shot put.

Southeast jumpers will be making their first showing of the season. They return several veterans to the program, including seniors John Berry (long jump) and Ryan Doty (high jump) and juniors Bilal Hameed and Funtasia Clark in the triple jump.

Field events will kickoff at noon with the women's 20lb weight throw.
