Women's Cross Country Wins Saluki Invitational

Carbondale, Ill. - The Southeast Missouri State men's and women's cross country teams competed today at the Saluki Invitational on the campus of SIU-Carbondale. The women captured the team title with a total of 39 points, edging out SIU-Carbondale by three points, while the men's team finished second with a total of 109 points.

Leading the way for Redhawks was Juli Koenegstein with a second place finish. She posted a time of 18:36.45. Brandi Gervais finished 5th with a time of 18:46.65. Following Koenegstein and Gervais was Esther Mathias who finished 8th with a time of 18:59.88 and Monica Noble who finished 11th with a time of 19:15.52. Also competing was Linnea Woldtvedt (18th -19:54.48) and Amy Warren (19th - 19:58.58).

Brandon Funderburk was the team leader for the men's team. He finished 7th with a time of 26:04.89. Brad DeMattei placed 19th with a time of 27:13.98. Jason Lumpkin finished 25th with a time of 27:30.52 and Dustin Davis finished 32nd with a time of 27:58.76.

The Redhawks will be back in action on Saturday, September 29, at the Greater Louisville Classic.
