CARBONDALE, Ill. - (Saturday, October 08, 2005) The Redhawks men's and women's cross country teams finished with a combined four top-20 finishes at the Saluki Cross Country Invitational on a cool and clear Saturday morning in Carbondale, Illinois. Lindsay Zeiler was the top finisher for both teams as she finished fifth, while Danny Stults paced the men with a 14th-place finish.

"I'm very please with our performance today," said Head Coach Eric Heins. "Both teams showed up today and competed very hard in a tough meet with a very competitive field of runners."

Zeiler finished with a time of 18:29.77 and showed signs that she is fully recovered from nagging injuries that plagued the 2003 OVC Women's Cross Country of the Year runner all of last season.

Jen Caywood finished 10th (18:56.46) and Kris Woolf finished 14th (19:05.99) while running unattached from the team.

The Redhawks freshmen women had a strong showing with Amy Warren (19:38.11) and Juli Koenegstein (19:40.96) finishing 24th and 25th respectively.

Stults finished with a time of 26:11.92 in the men's 8K run. He was followed by Gabe Lutes (26:21.87) and Chris Herren (26:24.61) finished 21st and 23rd respectively on the men's side.

The women's team finished behind host SIU and the University of Southern Indiana with 90 points just ahead of Ohio Valley Conference rival Eastern Illinois, who finished fourth with 115 points, and Saint Louis University and Ole Miss.

The men finished behind University of Southern Indiana, SIU and Ole Miss for a strong fourth place finish with 113 points.

USI's Heather Cooksey (17:10.74) and SIU's Joe Byrne (24:45.58) each captured the individual titles.

"We were very focused on this meet especially with conference right around the corner," said Heins. "We are improving and moving in the right direction at the right time of the season."

The Redhawks will have the week off before hosting the SEMO Invitational on Saturday, October 22nd at Capaha Park.
