Cross Country Team Finds Success at UE Invitational

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (Saturday, October 17, 2009) – The Southeast Missouri State cross country team continued their successful season and the UE Invitational was no exception. The Redhawks competed against over 300 runners from 17 different schools across the Midwest at the University of Evansville Cross Country Course as they took part in the eighth-annual UE Cross Country Invitational.

The UE Invitational brought together 10 Division I schools giving the Redhawks one last chance to scope out their competition before heading into the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on October 31st.

For the men’s team, Jason Lumpkin and Chris Loseman placed second and third respectively out of 151 runners. Lumpkin finished the 8K course with a time of 25:36.12. Loseman finished with a time of 26:17.85.

For Lumpkin it was his third runner-up finish in four meets this season. Loseman recorded his third top-five finish and second third place finish of the season.

Also placing in the top-20 for the Redhawks was Tyler Mullen who placed 18th with a time of 27:08.52.

Joel Krause (33rd -27:35.66) rounded out the top performances for the men’s team as they placed 4th overall in the team standings.

On the women’s side, Monica Noble continued to show improvement as she finished as the top Redhawks runner. She finished in 3rd place with a time of 18:57.05. Szandra Pal also finished in the top-10 with a time of 19:19.97 landing her a sixth place finish.

Liz Speicher (22nd - 20:14.05), Kasey Owens(25th - 20:19.54) and Linnea Woldtvedt (29th - 20:22.73) finished in the top-30 for the team.

The women’s team matched the men’s squad, placing 4th out of 12 teams.

The Redhawks will return to action on October 31st at the OVC Championships in Nashville, Tennessee at Percy Warner State Park.
